Investing newsletters come in many shapes and forms. Some dead serious with a great track record, while others are near scams.
You have probably heard about penny stocks and how penny stocks newsletters are pump and dump schemes?
So, how could you stay away from this and find an investment newsletter that suits your needs? The answer is easier than you think.
How to Choose an Investing Newsletter for Experienced Investors?
If the price is too good to be true, it probably is.
There are many so-called investment newsletters that are priced at $2 or $3 per month, or even for free. These are probably there to lure in as many investors as possible to pump up the price of an illiquid stock. Or, the real reason you get the product for free is that the provider earns a commission by sending you to their preferred broker.
But let’s take a look at a couple of serious investment research providers.
1. Capitalist Exploits
Managing money professionally, Chris Macintosh, Jamie Keech, Bradley McFAdden and Harris “Kuppy” Kupperman teamed up to establish Capitalist Exploits to offer their subscribers a real look into how professionals pick their investments.
Their flagship product Insider ($1,999 a year) is designed to give their readers actionable investment ideas based on the process that they do within their own hedge fund. For those who are not accredited investors, this is a great value-for-money product.
The ideas presented are identified to have an asymmetric risk/reward profile and are usually aimed to earn 300% or more on your invested capital.
Like Gary (client) put it: “I’ve been an investor for over 20 years. Subscribed to a few investment newsletters over that time. This is by far the best service I’ve come across.”
To get an idea of what’s inside their Insider product, Capitalist Exploits have made a cheaper product called Insider Weekly ($35 a month), which is a weekly investing piece with less research, but still a couple of actionable investing ideas.

2. Morningstar
Morningstar is well-known for their mutual fund rating systems. They also deliver stock analysis. I enjoy reading the reports on the Morningstar website and also through my broker online. You can read articles for free and get basic membership that’s free
For more in-depth membership, you’ll need to upgrade to premium membership ($199 a year). The premium membership is worth it if you like researching company fundamentals.
3. Stansberry Research
The standard annual price is $199 for each newsletter which can be pricey. But if you search for offers, you can usually find a one-year or two-year subscription for $99.
Of all the recommendations, the Stansberry products are the most detailed and structured. Each month, you receive a new stock recommendation and a 5 or 6-page story and analysis on why you should invest in the stock or ETF. They also provide a “buy up to” price and a selling price.
As for other things in life, quality has its price. Stansberry Reasearch and Morningstar are both priced at $199 yearly, but the quality of the research by Capitalist Expoloits is so much better and well-suited to portfolios that are $20,000 or more for their Insider product.
Whether you choose the investment newsletter from Capitalist Expoloits or Morningstar, it’s always a good idea of having someone else to lean on when investing in the markets. But, as always, it’s your money and your responsibility as to what to buy or sell.
